I recently started getting numerous syslog messages generated on my Dell S and Z Series Switches when backup jobs run. It looks like for some reason the user credentials aren't being passed correctly. This happens to random different switches, with no real pattern. It's not a huge deal as the next line is a successful login. However, it does generate 20 emails to our team mailbox every day that backups run, which always looks bad to the untrained eye. The other strange part is that the backup log only shows the successful connection, never anything about a failed attempt. I am just curious if anyone else has seen this issue and if it's something in the software/script that isn't getting passed correctly or could be a hardware compatibility thing between the Dell Switches and NCM?
The errors look like this :
%STKUNIT0-M:CP %SEC-3-AUTHENTICATION_FAILURE: Authentication failure on vty0 for method "local" user ""
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
