Create a simple Status icon ?

I would like to show a simple status icon (Red/Green) on the node summary page, showing if the device is currently backed up in NCM.

- is there a way to add this on the existing page customizations ?

- has anyone got anything like this already ?

or  .. can i create some custom html to display a red/green png file depending on some node DB query ?

I consider a method of using a map, with a single icon on it and link that to the DB query... but seems a long way round.
