Device Template for AudioCodes SBC 2600

Hi,

I wanted to see if anyone has used NCM to backup an AudioCodes SBC 2600?  I found in the content exchange the device template for AudioCodes media packs which works great, but the 2600 is different and if someone else has worked on this, I'm just trying to speed up the process of getting this to work.

Upgraded to NCM 7.8, now additional pollers can't get resources for nodes

I applied all available Solarwinds updates to our environment on 6 August 2018, bringing us up to NCM 7.8 and Orion 2018.2 HF4. After the updates, we cannot do the following:

  • List Resources for a node that is handled by one of our additional polling engines.
  • Run network discoveries on any of our additional polling engines

We can list resources and run discoveries from the main Solarwinds (Orion) server.

I've traced this to an issue with instantiating a couple of NCM components (SolarWinds.Cirrus.BusinessLayer and SolarWinds.NCM.Discovery.Plugin) on the APEs. If I uninstall the NCM components from an APE, we can list resources and run discoveries from the APE. If I reinstall the NCM components, we can no longer list resources or do discoveries.

I have a case open with Solarwinds, but I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem after upgrading to NCM 7.8 and Orion HF4. If you had this problem, were you able to fix it? How?

These errors appear over and over in the Core.BusinessLayer.Log file on all of the additional pollers:

2018-08-07 11:37:30,863 [11] ERROR SolarWinds.Orion.Discovery.Framework.Pluggability.DiscoveryPluginFactory - (null) Unhandled exception occured during instantiating type [SolarWinds.NCM.Discovery.Plugin.NcmDiscoveryPlugin] from assembly [SolarWinds.NCM.Discovery.Plugin]

2018-08-07 11:37:30,863 [11] ERROR SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.CoreBusinessLayerService - (null) Unhandled exception occured when rescheduling discovery jobs
System.TypeLoadException: Unhandled exception occured during instantiating type [SolarWinds.NCM.Discovery.Plugin.NcmDiscoveryPlugin] from assembly [SolarWinds.NCM.Discovery.Plugin]

Thanks very much for any assistance or insight!

Incorrect Machine type/vendor information

Hi Guys,

ive done a bit of poking around the forum under similar topics but i cant find a recent one and im assuming this has been sorted now...

apologies if this is in the wrong section also.

We had a number of cisco routers at remote MPLS sites which were replaced some time ago by Zyxel routers but even after rediscovering the nodes, the machine type is still listed as cisco.

i know solarwinds recognises Zyxel devices as we have many that have been discovered as the correct vendor and even have a little "Z" logo next to them.

please tell me what i need to do to get this recified.

thanks

Louis

Import Thwack Community Pollers - name/password incorrect

NPM 12.2

All settings --> Manage Pollers

This area allows you to manage pollers on your installation.   There is a separate tab that allows you to IMPORT Thwack Community pollers into your system.   When I choose a poller to import, it prompts me for my Thwack username and password, which I provide (correctly).   Then it just tells me that my username and password are incorrect.   Do I need to have some sort of special access to import these community pollers?  The same username and password allowed me access to the Thwack forums (obviously) so what am I doing wrong?

Real-time Configuration Change Detection Based on Syslog Messages

Hello Community,

Is it possible to monitor both the startup and running-config files in Real-time Configuration Change Detection (RTCD)?

Under Config Downloads & Notifications, Previously Downloaded Config File, monitor this file type in Web Console > Settings >  NCM Settings > Configure Real-Time Change Detection, there is only the option to select one type.

In addition to changes written to the start-up configuration, I want to to be notified of changes made to the running-config that are not saved.

Regards,

Simon

Policy Rule Creation - Blocks

$

Hi all,

I've been trying to create a policy rule that would look for the presence of the following statements (Cisco Devices):

line aux o

     access-class 22 in

line vty 0 4

     access-class 22 in

The problem is that it's not recognizing access-class 22 in as a string that should exist at each block, it reports no violation as long as it finds it at least once in the config file and I'm not sure what I did wrong. I tried playing with the parenthesis but that didn't help, I tried multiple things, including the string matching that I'm showing in the attached image. I'd really appreciate your inputs!

NCM and SCP

Anyone know how to verify NCM is backing up configs using the SCP server vs TFTP? I've configured it and the job seems to be completing, but I'd like some evidence it is using the correct one.

Firmware Upgrade "Not Enough Space"

Hello

Firmware Upgrade

I get an error message that states "not enough space' when I kick off a data collection part of a firmware upgrade using firmware upgrade templates. I have checked flash on the router and there is plenty of space in flash to receive the new IOS. Is this a bug?

Respectfully,

Matt

NCM Command Output to Variable

Hi,

I am having trouble finding the answer to this question.

I would like a config change template to run a command on a Cisco device, then grab a portion of that output into a variable. For example - show mac address-table, then grab the MAC into a variable. Is that possible? If so, does anyone have any good references for this syntax?

Integration With Sharepoint (Only Node Status Indicator)

Our company uses Sharepoint for our internal webpages, these are viewed by everyone in our department and are used to display information and documentation about out network. We have a clinic page where we have a table of all of our clinics, their addresses, phone number, etc. I was wanting to know if there is a way I could add in a node status indicator somehow. This way people in our department that don't have access or know how to use SolarWinds can get quick status info from Sharepoint.

Eg.

Clinic
Phone Number

Location 1

999-999-9999
Location 2999-999-9999
Location 3999-999-9999

And this would be a table on our internal sharepoint site. I was thinking I could maybe do this using a custom HTML resource and URL credential passthrough with an external page module in Sharepoint, but I am a network admin and I don't know my way around SQL queries, scripting, or anything like that which is why I am here asking for help.

Config DL consistently fails when part of scheduled job

...for 2 devices. The error is "Connection refused". It consistently succeeds if I trigger the config downloads manually, though.

I have already spent a lot of time playing with device templates and also lowered the max number of simultaneous downloads. We're currently down to 8 now. I don't know what else to try. Support was able to help with some of the issues, but have 2 more devices I haven't been able to fix.

Anybody else have similar problems?

Thanks,

Romeo
